My name is Izete Morina, I am 40 years old, and I am the mother of two children. I come from a Muslim family and from a mountain town in Kosovo called Rahovec. I grew up with Islamic traditions and customs.

For the first time, I heard about the Gospel from my husband, Bardhyl. Until then, I had never felt that I needed forgiveness, because I thought I was not a sinner. While my husband was presenting the grace of the Gospel to me, I had the opportunity to participate in a Bible camp with the Church of the Brethren in Tirana. The women had organized a morning meeting and, one day, God deeply touched my heart regarding sin. At that moment, I understood that without Jesus’ forgiveness, I would remain far from God’s presence.

On September 2, 2009, I accepted Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior. God set me free from the weight of sin, and tears of joy and repentance flowed from my eyes because I experienced God in a real way in my life. On September 6, 2010, I was baptized.

From the moment I placed my faith in the Lord, I realized a profound unity of vision with my husband: to give our lives to Jesus and dedicate ourselves to announcing His love to those who do not yet know Him.

Since 2013, responding to the call to serve the Lord, we started the project of founding the Church of our Lord Jesus Christ in Prizren, a difficult place for Christians. Here, to be a Christian, one must be ready to face many persecutions, starting from the family, society, and the surrounding environment. In fact, the family excludes you from relationships, and society mocks and ignores you, calling you a “traitor to the faith.” But I had my husband, Bardhyl, by my side, and thanks to God’s help and His Word—which is irreplaceable—I was able to resist.

Today, together with my husband, we are missionaries of the church in Prizren, supporting women, men, and children who have chosen to believe in Jesus. Although the challenges are great, Jesus is the victor in all things.
