A new service opportunity has opened in Cambodia, a work that was contacted thanks to the collaboration with the Rome assembly that meets in Via Gallori.

One of the social plagues afflicting Cambodia is, in fact, human trafficking, which involves thousands of individuals. Omefi, together with several churches and individual believers, shares the goal of opening foster homes to host those children at high risk of being sold for organ trafficking, destined for prostitution, or subject to abuse of all kinds.
It also considers it important, for the future of these generations, to make the joyful message of the Gospel known from an early age and to integrate them into the local church. Currently, there are three foster homes, Children’s Home, managed by our brother Thida Sot and her husband Stren.
In Phnom Penh, which is the capital, there are two homes, and one in Prey Veng. The latter was opened following a specific commitment guaranteed by Italian believers regarding the cost of the rent.
Each home has a variable number of children, from 15 to 18 children per home, ranging in age from 6/8 years old up to 18 years old. In each home, there is a cook and volunteers who help.
The believing youth help with teaching and evangelize the younger ones. They also witness for the Lord through “Happy Hour” activities (gathering children from the streets and bringing them to the home).
In addition to food and shelter, the children are supported to attend school (which has a very high cost) or to learn a trade. Omefi feels called to support this work and to give its contribution, recognizing the value of this ministry which is bearing excellent fruit to the glory of God.
